13 Mile Wildlife Scenic Float with Teton Views:
The 13-Mile Scenic Float is a section that is west of the town of Jackson, nestled between the Grand Teton National Park and the Bridger Teton National Forest. Opportunities to spot a moose wading in a back eddy or an osprey diving in the river for a cutthroat trout are abound with the snow capped Tetons as your backdrop, so be sure to bring your camera for this trip. Binoculars are supplied for each boat along with snacks, muffins and juice in the morning and cookies and juice in the afternoon, with the baked goods coming fresh from the Jackson Hole Bakery, a local favorite. This trip takes about 4 hours and has departures in the morning and afternoon from late June to late August.
Every one of our guides loves to have kids in the boat. Maybe it’s because our guides haven’t quite grown past the jump-in-every-puddle, climb-every-rock stage of childhood, but they live to make kids laugh and appreciate the outdoors. Last year we began our Dave Hansen Jr. Guide Program with great success. Kids will get an activity kit including a wildlife Bingo card, word puzzles, and a tally sheet for birds and animals spotted. The guide will teach them how to spot Bald Eagles and as the official Eagle Counter, the kids will keep track of the tally (last year’s record was 21!). With the help of the guide, kids are encouraged to have a go on the oars, and at the end of the trip, the guide will award each kid a Dave Hansen Jr. Guide patch.
8 Mile Upper Canyon Wildlife Scenic Float:
The 8-Mile Scenic Float begins at Pritchard Creek and travels past the nesting areas of both bald eagles and ospreys. The trip is a great way to see the beauty of the river and the geology that forms the Grand Canyon of the Snake River, without getting wet. The river is home to a variety of waterfowl and native animals including moose, deer and river otters. Early morning is the watering time for most animals along the river, and affords the best opportunity for wildlife viewing. Feel free to bring your camera with you! This trip takes about 3 hours and leaves once a day in the morning throughout the whole season.
